DAM NEWS: New Call for Entry for Members Now Open

DAM invites you to participate in this Summer’s exhibition,

“Greetings from Detroit: Wish You Were Here”

 July 29 – August 27, 2016

 

The Detroit Artists Market and the Detroit Historical Society team up to present this fun summer exhibition. DAM members will have the opportunity to stop by the gallery and pick up one or two vintage Detroit postcards to use as inspiration for a new piece of art created for this exhibition.  These postcards can be used purely as inspiration or you can directly incorporate them into your work of art.

•          2D pieces – no larger than 24”x 30”

•          3D pieces – no larger than 36”x 36”

•          Price point limit for this show is $500. Limit (1) entry per

•          All 2D pieces must be gallery ready.  If there are special instructions, please discuss those with Dalia Reyes in advance of drop off.

 

Exhibition Calendar

Pick up your vintage postcards between June 22 and July 9

All work must be dropped off to DAM between July 18 - July 22. During regular gallery hours: 11am-6pm.

All participants must be DAM members ($35 Artist Membership).  All works will be included dependent upon space limitations.

The DAM standard commission is 1/3 (33.3%) of the sale price. This exhibition will open on Friday, July 9th with a public reception, and run through Saturday, August 27th. It is necessary to be a DAM Artist Member to participate; just $35 for a one-year membership!

Annual Garden Party takes place Saturday June 18

Please join us for the Detroit Artists Market Garden Party & Art Sale annual event on Saturday, June 18th, 2016, from 4pm – 8pm at residence of architect, Constantine Pappas in Bloomfield Hills. The art sale will be held in the backyard. Artists’ works for sale include paintings, prints, photographs, fiber, jewelry, glass, ceramics, and more.

The DAM Annual Garden Party & Art Sale is a tradition dating back to the 1930s, when the Detroit Artists Market was founded. The event is a special way of bringing together our members, DAM artists and patrons for a fun afternoon of experiencing art in the beautiful outdoors. This year’s event features artworks by more than 125 established and emerging local artists and will include paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, jewelry, glass, ceramics, fiber, and much more.

Our special musical entertainment will be provided by Warren Defever, His Name is Alive. Guests will also enjoy appetizers and sweets generously provided by area restaurants and businesses including Motor City Brewing Works, Tequila Cabresto, Wolf Moon Mixers, Mudgie's Authentic Artisan Deli, and KouZina Greek Street Food.

DAM Closes at 4PM on Friday, March 25

The Detroit Artists Market will be closing for the day at 4PM on March 25. We will reopen March 26, 2016 at 11AM for regular gallery hours. Be sure to view our current exhibition, Annual Scholarship Awards and Exhibition featuring Wayne State University scholarship finalists, alumni and faculty.
