The Garden Party & Sale is a DAM tradition from our earliest years. It is a four hour art sale event, hosted outdoors at a local home. 2013’s design show, the DAM Design Aria, turns the spotlight on what is new from Detroit’s top designers. The ensemble has been carefully orchestrated to include multiple design elements; lighting, chairs, tables, jewelry and graphic design, creating a display in harmony. DAM will once again host a runway show, On Stage, with costumes out of Michigan Opera Theatre’s design room.

The Detroit Artists Market has been an important part of Metro Detroit since 1932. As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we want to add your stories to our history!
What is your favorite DAM memory or story? What was your first artwork you purchased, or most memorable exhibition? If you are an artist, when did you first show at DAM? Who are the people you remember - the artists, the collectors and patrons, the art lovers? How has DAM contributed to your life, to the Detroit community, to the art world?
All entries will be collected and saved as part of the Detroit Artists Market’s historic archives, and may be used for DAM’s own anecdotal or reference purposes. If you are willing to allow your story and name to be shared publicly as part of our 80th anniversary celebration, please let us know.

DAM exhibitions and events provide hundreds Detroit area artists the opportunity to show and sell their work, giving emerging and established artists the visibility and audiences they deserve. As a nonprofit gallery, DAM puts a much higher percentage of revenue in artists’ pockets and acts as a powerful driver of Detroit’s creative economy.
