As a resident of Trenton, Michigan, Larry’s discovery and fascination with mobiles began in the late 1990’s, sparked by the American sculptor, Alexander Calder, one of the most inventive artists of his time. He was best known for his mobiles. Studying the works of Calder and others, Larry is self-taught and is still learning this craft. Hanging, perfectly balanced sculptures that twist and revolve Larry’s mobiles create an atmosphere of peace, rest and joyful excitement to the viewer. Larry uses hand straightened steel wire for the balance arms, aluminum and steel sheet metal for the mobile pieces. Each piece is custom designed, hand cut, primed and sprayed with enamel paint.
