Artist Statement
Referencing petroglyphic and pictographic forms as a shared origin art for all people, Astrid Muller-Karger narrates the evolution of the human condition, the development of the self, our relationships with each other and our environment. Mathematics, geometry and nature are used to represent the fundamental structures of the world being engaged, without associations to country, creed, or gender. From our highest aspirations to our mundane failures, these drawings distill even our most basic interactions in order to reach the spirit with which we navigate life to build a self and community.
