DETROIT ARTISTS MARKET GARDEN PARTY & ART SALE
Thursday, June 21, 2012, 4pm – 8pm
Celebrating 80 years of promoting contemporary art, the Detroit Artists Market is pleased to announce our 2012 Garden Party and Art Sale, taking place this year on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. Michael Hartt in the historic Indian Village neighborhood.
The Garden Party and Art Sale is a tradition that began in the 1930s, when the Detroit Artists Market was founded, as a special way of bringing together artists and patrons for a fun and beautiful afternoon. This year features artworks by more than 100 emerging and established local artists and will include paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, jewelry, glass, ceramics, fiber, and much more. Our special musical entertainment is Sin Hielo, featuring Wayne Gerard and Sean Blackman. Guests will also enjoy appetizers and sweets generously provided by 24 Grille, Angelina Italian Bistro, Detroit Gypsy Kitchen, Green Dot Stables, Komodo Kitchen, Mudgie’s Deli, Zumba Mexican Grille and Cost Plus Wine .
We are excited to once again host the Garden Party and Art Sale in Detroit! This year we will be in Detroit’s historic Indian Village neighborhood at the Arthur Hiram Buhl House, which was built in 1908. Our host, Michael Hartt, is a collector and owner of Hartt Estate Sales and Antique Gallery. We are looking forward to sharing some of the best works by local artists and enjoying the afternoon in the gardens of this important historic home.
"This year's Garden Sale is one way for us to celebrate our 80th anniversary year, as the event is a tradition of DAM's which goes back to our earliest years. This is a wonderful way to both honor our history and enjoy an afternoon of great company and the best local art."

About Detroit Artists Market DAM was founded in 1932 by Detroit art patrons, in direct response to the economic hardships of the Great Depression. For 80 years, DAM has shown and sold the best of Detroit’s contemporary artists, and connected them with audiences and collectors. New, emerging, and well-established artists are shown at DAM, often side-by-side in a wide variety of exhibitions. The Detroit Artists Market is rooted in Detroit art and culture, and continues to be a leading community organization promoting contemporary art.
