These events changed Detroit and surrounding communities forever, in ways both clear and subtle. As the 50th anniversary draws near, many are reflecting on that summer in Detroit and its impact.

2017 CRANBROOK ACADEMY OF ART ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AND EXHIBITION PROGRAM

DETROIT, February 14, 2017 — The Detroit Artists Market (DAM) proudly announces that this year the Detroit Artists Market Annual Scholarship and Exhibition Program has selected ten outstanding graduate students from Cranbrook Academy of Art as finalists of the John F. Korachis Scholarship Awards Program. The DAM exhibition will present works by the ten scholarship finalists along with many distinguished alumni and faculty of the renowned Cranbrook Academy of Art. The DAM exhibition opening will be on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will run through Saturday, April 8, 201

DETROIT ARTISTS MARKET INSPIRED BY NATURE EXHIBITION

(DETROIT) – The Detroit Artists Market (DAM) kicks off the 2017 season with the group exhibition Inspired by Nature, on view January 13 through February 11, 2017. Curator Jeff Cancelosi has assembled an eclectic group of artists, each of whom approaches the topic of nature from a different perspective: some incorporate the wonder of the natural world into their work; others use the elements of nature to create something novel; and some use nature as a metaphor for observations about our world. Visitors will experience works from Jacklyn Brickman, Larry Cressman, Todd Erickson, Denes Galfi, Mary Keithan, Armin Mersmann and Jasmine Murrell.

DAM HOSTS 2ND ANNUAL GALA: LEGENDARY FIRE HORSES OF DETROIT

(DETROIT) – The Detroit Artists Market (DAM) pays tribute to a bygone era with the Legendary Fire Horses of Detroit Art Auction: DAM Gala II, October 14, 2016, 7-11 p.m., at the Hook & Ladder House #5 in Eastern Market. During this one-night affair, WDET’s Stephen Henderson will host an art auction of original works by fourteen area artists. The event also includes live music from Sean Blackman’s In Transit, great food and drink, and a silent auction featuring products and services from Detroit area organizations. All proceeds benefit the Detroit Artists Market and its artists.
