Marie Awn received her BFA from Wayne State University while working as a makeup artist. After a decades long career in the makeup industry, Marie decided to leave that path to pursue her lifelong dream of being a painter.

“My current paintings depict the human form in an abstracted environment with pops of saturated color. My influences include comic book illustration, minimalism, and the natural world. I am fascinated by the way we perceive our memories and I strive to conjure those feelings of looking at photographs from the past or remembering a moment in time.”
