“What ties the work together is the process-heavy or process-driven nature of the works, oftentimes with lots of layering of materials and imagery that create a distinct phenomenological experience for the viewers, challenging their perception of the physical art object. The secondary, conceptual theme is how the artists explore cultural perceptions and expectations of their media, subject matter, or identity. Several artists use domestic imagery or materials, work with craft processes or objects, or deploy imagery exploring cultural nuances.”
