Alexandra Collins (b. 2001) is a painter based in Metro-Detroit who constructs dense perceptual spaces through oil painting. She earned her BFA from the University of Michigan in 2024 and will complete her MFA in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2026.
“I approach painting as a space of synthesis, where natural and man-made forms merge into layered systems of abundance, joy, and hope. In an image-saturated world, the canvas becomes a site of presence, as organic and inorganic materials are fused through translucent oil paint into dense networks of color and light. Recurring currants and lilies symbolize resilience and rebirth, unfolding into vibrant, dream-like still lifes that suggest other worlds.”
