Meet the curator!
Elise Marie Martin is a visual artist and educator, whose work explores themes of empathy, comfort, and care. Using slow hand-craft processes, she transforms familiar reclaimed materials into sculptures and immersive installations that question our assumptions around identity, reciprocity and emotional labor.
Elise received her BFA from the College for Creative Studies and her MFA from Wayne State University. Her studio practice is complemented by her work in education and community arts programming, as well as her work in the garden and with local farms. She is the recipient of a 2025 Kresge Artist Fellowship.
