Slavic Pagan Ritual – Bumbo Krawczyk

While having more time than ever to spend on creative endeavors over the last six weeks, I’m looking for subject matter to be inspired by. I started a series focusing on some of my ancestral rots, doing figurative paintings on Siberian gulags, indigenous people of Eastern Europe, farming in Poland, etc. While doing some research on pre-Christianity in those areas, I was intrigued by Slavic Paganism. A great painting on this era, “The Celebration of Svantovit in Rujana: When Gods are at War, Art is Salvation”, by Alphonse Mucha, particularly struck me as relevant to these current times.
